Sat, Jul 28: Kyoto

Took a train to Kyoto.  We saw: 

Golden Temple (Kinkaku-ji or Rokuon-ji),

with the lovely grounds surrounding it, 

the Silver temple  (Ginkaku-ji Temple),

including it's garden of very carefully raked sand...

and a small ornamental pond.

Walked along the Path of Philosophy along a canal,

visited Eikan-do Temple, founded in 855.

Found a great authentic Japanese restaurant for Lunch...sitting on the floor,

Then followed the path to Lake Biwa.

The Fountain is in Lake Biwa.

then on to Heian Shrine.

with its large garden

and lily pond.
